Flaking is a heat treatment consisting of steaming and subsequent rolling of cereal grains and beans, in order to increase the digestibility of their starch and proteins. These highly digestible flakes can therefore be fed to animals in periods of high production or engaged in intense activity requiring a specific additional energy intake in their daily food ration.
